For business owners & the teams they lead

Make room for growth.
Give yourself room to lead.

When the team needs your answer, your spreadsheet, or your intervention to keep work moving, growth puts more on your plate.

I’m Patrick Welsh. I help owners untangle how work gets done, understand where their time and money are going, and build practical systems their teams can use.

We’ll talk about what is getting stuck, what you have tried, and whether I can help.

Does this sound familiar?

The business has grown.
Your day has filled up with it.

You have people and customers. But too much still relies on you keeping track of everything and stepping in when something slips.

  1. 01

Every decision seems to come back to you.

The team waits for a price, an approval, or an answer. You hand work over, then spend the afternoon checking on it.

  2. 02

You’re busier, but there isn’t much more left over.

Sales look healthy. Extra hours, unexpected costs, and small requests that never make it onto the invoice tell a different story.

  3. 03

More customers would put the team under more strain.

Scheduling, handoffs, and rework already take too much effort. You want to grow without adding another layer of daily firefighting.

  4. 04

Getting a straight answer takes too much chasing.

The status of a job lives in someone’s inbox. Numbers need checking. The same information gets entered in more than one place.

How I help

Start with the work that keeps getting stuck.

Give the team what they need
to move work forward.

01

Get recurring work off your plate

Work out what needs your judgment, what the team can own, and what they need to do it well.

  • Clear responsibilities and decision limits
  • Useful instructions for recurring situations
  • Less chasing between people and systems
02

See which work is worth growing

Connect sales, costs, and the effort to deliver so you can make better choices about prices, customers, and capacity.

  • Costs that get missed in estimates
  • Jobs and customers that absorb extra time
  • Numbers available while you can still act
03

Build systems that fit the work

Improve the tools you have, connect scattered information, and automate repeatable tasks where it will help.

  • Software integrations and focused applications
  • Practical uses for automation and AI
  • Training and documentation for the team

Patrick’s prior work

Experience working through
the details.

Examples from my previous operating and consulting roles, before Equip.

Separate analytical work

Testing a savings claim against the evidence

Used statistical analysis to assess an operational savings estimate and give leadership a clearer basis for decisions. This was separate from the scheduling application work.

Cyber risk

Making scattered risk information useful to leadership

Turned security data covering 5,000–8,000 endpoints into reporting and a prioritization model used in CEO level discussions.

Compliance operations

Connecting survey records to an approval process

Built a data pipeline supporting a legal and risk approval workflow. The team adopted the extraction approach within three weeks.

Working together

Pick one problem.
Make a useful change.

The work can include responsibilities, operating practices, data, and technology. The scope depends on what is keeping the business from moving forward.

Talk through a starting point
  1. 01

    Look at what actually happens

We follow a few real examples with the people doing the work, including the extra steps and workarounds that rarely make it into a process document.

  2. 02

Agree on what to change first

A focused initial engagement usually takes two to three weeks. We examine one recurring problem, estimate what it costs, and agree on a practical next step and a fixed scope and fee.

  3. 03

    Put the change into use

I can help build and introduce the solution, test it in real work, and train the team to run it. We check whether it actually saves time, reduces mistakes, or improves a decision.

When you need ongoing data and technology leadership

I can also help lead priorities, coordinate vendors, and support your internal team as a fractional data leader.

A little about me

I like figuring out
how to make things work.

Equip is my consultancy, shaped by 12 years of leadership, including five years building better business systems from the ground up.

My first seven years were in relational ministry as a full time missionary living on support. I led teams, started new outreaches, and served in regional leadership. That work taught me how much good systems depend on understanding the people who use them.

Over the past five years, I’ve worked through broken processes, replaced cumbersome tools, and built applications and data systems across aviation, financial services, banking, healthcare, and cybersecurity. I bring that practical experience together with an MBA and a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt.

What I want to leave behind

A team that can carry more of the work, with the information and tools to do it well.

Question 1 of 6Your situation

Before we talk

A few things you
might be wondering.

Do we need clean data or new software to start?

No. A few recent examples of work that stalled, took too long, or cost more than expected are enough for a first conversation. We can work out what information would help from there.

Will you help put the changes into practice?

Yes. My work can include clarifying responsibilities, improving processes, building tools, connecting systems, and training the team. We agree on what you need and what I will deliver before the work begins.

Is this only for small businesses?

I work with owners and leadership teams in privately held businesses of different sizes. A company with several locations can face the same delays, missing information, and dependence on a few people as a smaller firm.

What if the issue is not mainly technology?

We may need to clarify who decides, simplify a process, or change an operating practice first. Technology should support how the business needs to work.

What happens during the free conversation?

We spend 30 minutes on what is getting stuck, what you have tried, and what you want to change. We can identify something worth examining and decide whether further work together makes sense. There is no obligation to buy anything.
